The northern style of Thai massage, known in Thailand as Nuad Bo-Rarn, roots back to ancient Indian Ayurvedic practices and traditional Chinese medicines. This is very different to the Western type of oil based tissue manipulation, focusing on SEN or energy lines, stretching and a combination of many techniques that draw from accupressure, reflexology and assisted yoga poses.
Thai massage is performed in loose clothing on a futon on the floor, allowing for a greater range of body manipulations and the most effective use of the practitioners body weight for the transmission of pressure, force and energy.
Thai yoga massage can help to:
- Increase flexibility
- Release both deep and superficial tension
- Open the bodies energy lines
- Enhance flow of the circulatory systems
- Clear blockages and toxins
